Send off summer this weekend with the final instalment of the City of Light Show

Fireworks will now light up the sky this weekend instead of the planned drone show. City of Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said this pivot was based on advice from drone operators confirming weather conditions this weekend did not support drone flying.

“We think it’s important that we finish our City of Light series on a high, and make sure viewers have the best experience,” he said.

These fireworks will close the summer events in Perth which included the Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and Australia Day City of Light shows.

Arrive at 5:00 pm to start the night with some food from various food trucks. Then let the kids entertain themselves with a free hula-hoop workshop and a silent disco.

Circus performances, stilt walkers, butterfly catchers, and LED angels will make their way around Elizabeth Quay. Test your luck at the sideshow alley with a rabbit shooting gallery and laughing clowns.

“Perth is synonymous with light and after the success of our four previous shows this summer, the final two City of Light shows will reinforce that no city lights up like Perth,” Zempilas commented.

“I am so proud of how we’ve lit up the City this summer with a thriving event calendar, Perth has been buzzing with activity.”
