It’s the last month of winter, and with it, you’ll have already noticed sunnier, warmer days along with those icy cold, fresh mornings. Strong indications that spring is almost upon us.  

For some people, that means excitement for the return of days at the beach. Others will be looking forward to some of the events that spring brings with it or heading out into the Perth Hills and experience the blooming wildflowers and flowing waterfalls.

The Perth Hills region is full of hidden gems that are best experienced on a guided tour. Off The Beaten Track has put together a Hidden Gems of Perth full-day hiking tour that will guide you through the area, showing you some of the best waterfalls, hidden pools, and magnificent views. 

Hidden Gems of Perth is just one of the 27 events running in August as part of Spring Into Armadale. The series then continues through September, October, and November with more than 120 events operating through the period.

You can also welcome new life to the orchard at Core Cider with its annual Fire, Fable and Feast on Saturday, August 5th or gaze upon the stars and discover deep-sky treasures on one of Perth Observatory’s Winter Night Tours. There are a plethora of events in the series so there’s sure to be something to satisfy everyone.

The City of Perth has put together a spectacular month-long foodie festival — Plateful Perth — to celebrate the food, restaurants, and bars in the City of Light. The extensive program includes 15 culinary events, 15 bespoke dining experiences, and 22 special offers, all of which showcase WA’s finest produce.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

For most, the Rocky Horror Picture Show needs no introduction. Having been seen by over 30 million people worldwide, to say it’s been popular would be an understatement. This production sees an all-star cast led by David Bedella — whom you may know from Batman Begins and Alexander to name a couple — put on a show for the ages.

Truffle Adventure at Santini Bar & Grill

Embark on a culinary journey like no other headlined by the aroma and complexity of truffles from Truffle Hill, working with Santini’s Executive Chef Dario Pompucci and Dan Gedge from Leeuwin Estate.

Truffle Adventure guests will enjoy a five-course feast with dishes such as the delicate Abrolhos Island scallop crudo to the mouthwatering slow-cooked Rose Mallee short rib.

Nate Bargatze — The Be Funny Tour

Netflix famous Nate Bargatze will be taking the stage at The Astor as part of The Be Funny Tour.

Hailing from Old Hickory, Tennessee, stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze is best known for his first solo one-hour Netflix special. The Tennessee Kid premiered globally with rave reviews and recently released his highly anticipated second special, The Greatest Average American.

Cinefest Oz

Lights, camera, and action as Australia’s largest destination film festival, CinefestOZ, returns to our beautiful South West.

Fans of the big screen will be able to see some of Australia’s best new films first and meet filmmakers and talent at one of the many film screenings and events held at cinemas, wineries, restaurants, breweries, small bars, and galleries throughout the southwest.
