Telstra to bring relief for customers.

Telstra has released a statement this morning in regards to the current market due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Telstra customers (small business and consumers) who can’t afford to pay their bills can expect relief in the form of suspension of late fee charges and account disconnection until the end of April. At which time Telstra will review the current situation.

This news comes at a time of great economic uncertainty for Australian’s and payment of bills has been front of mind for many.

As part of Telstra’s announcement they have also implemented:

  • Putting on hold any further staff reductions
  • Recruitment of an additional 1,000 contractors to help with call centre volumes
  • Bringing forward $500 million of capex for second half of FY21 into the calendar year 2020 to increase capacity in the network – including the acceleration of 5G rollout
  • Suspension of late fees and account disconnection until end of April where a review of the policy will be undertaken
  • Extending of sponsorships for this year for another 12 months providing more certainty for current partners.

The news above also follows Telstra’s commitment to providing more value for its customers with additional data packages.
