Rumours are flying that the WWE is coming to Australia for the first time since 2018 and Perth is in the front seat to host.

Five years on since the Super ShowDown pay-per-view event in Melbourne at the MCG before 70,000 wrestling fans, there have been numerous reports that the Western Australian government are in negotiating with WWE for an event in early 2024.

How far have the negotiations advanced?

It seems the two sides have progressed beyond the expression of interest stage with WWE officials having toured Optus Stadium as a potential venue. Which of course they would have to be impressed with given Optus Stadium standing as one of the best stadiums not just in Australia, but the world.

While there has yet to be any official confirmation and we will continue to be on the lookout for further information, one would have to believe that the Western Australian government will be able to pull-off such a heist – having recently locked in Coldplay for the only two shows to be played in Australia later this year.

When will the WWE be in Perth?

While there is no official announcement or confirmed date – reports state that the WWE Perth pay-per-view event might take place in late-February or early-March in 2024, prior to WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia.
