We list Perth’s favourite after work watering holes.

Whether it’s a quiet tipple with some co-workers, or you’re meeting your friends for a night out on the town, Perth City has some excellent bars to whet your whistle at.

Clock off and pick one of these excellent after work drink hotspots to kick start your evening, or just blow off a little steam after corporate life ends for the day.

The Standard

It might be the Standard by name, but it goes even further when it comes to the quality of food and beverage at this Roe Street institution.

Cosy on up inside where the bar is pumping, or enjoy the fresh air and night sky views in the popular courtyard.

The menu has nods to Asian influence, while honouring great produce; and the drinks are a celebration of cocktails, craft beers and cheers-worthy drops.

Start your night here and you might find that you’re unable to move on to the next – it’s that good.

QT Rooftop

Who doesn’t love a rooftop bar – and especially one with such tasty beverages.

Take in the city’s night lights from the 18th floor of the QT Hotel and enjoy one of their delightful shaken cocktails – and maybe a cheeky crab jaffle while you’re at it too.

The signature cocktail menu has us oh so impressed, with the likes of their limoncello & curry leaf spritz, and their banana & wattleseed old fashioned.

It’s fun, vibrant, and has a distinctly different feel to other options which is why it’s such a winner.

W. Churchill

After work gin drinks start at W. Churchill.

Warm wood tones, a long bar to watch cocktails being crafted to perfection, plus a great alfresco area to soak up the sun (in the warmer months of course).

Built in the heritage listed WA Trustee building, this place has a sophisticated feel without any pretention.

It’s the ideal after work drink location in particular, thanks to their impressive drinks menu featuring over 200 gins.

Now you’re talking.

Aurora Rooftop Bar

Situated in the Melbourne Hotel, the Aurora Rooftop Bar is an ideal destination to catch up with friends or stroll over to with colleagues.

Here you can toast to the picturesque views while enjoying their house made Anemoi gin, cocktails and wines.

Watch the sun go down and then if you need a change of pace, the pub on the ground floor offers a relaxed, easy setting plus great pub fare too.

It’s the best of both worlds.

The Royal Hotel

Built in 1882 on the corner of William and Wellington Streets, The Royal Hotel now stands tall as one of Perth’s best gastropubs.

With a wraparound second story outdoor terrace, cosy booths and even a private karaoke room, it’s safe to say this is a must visit for an after hours beverage.

Stay for one, or find a perch so you can order some food too – it is truly superb nosh.

Foxtrot Unicorn

Good booze. Banging toasties and better times.

That’s what Foxtrot Unicorn is all about, and it sounds pretty excellent to us.

Situated off the Terrace in the city, underground in an old bank vault from 1887, the team here are lovers of brews, as well as lip-smacking selections of cheese and charcuterie. And don’t forget about the hospitality itself – you’re guaranteed to meet some of Perth’s most seasoned crew as they help you gear up for a great night out.

Bar Lafayette

Dim lighting inside, warm sunshine outside. Brookfield Place’s Bar Lafayette is a true cocktail gem occupying the heritage-listed 1910 Perth technical school building.

Not only are these guys beloved for their truly scrumptious drinks, they offer just the location to find a little intimate nook to begin your evening out in.

Whether your tastes gravitate towards shaken or stirred, you’ll find the drink to cheers the night away.

Helvetica

Hidden in an alley among some of Perth’s tallest buildings in the business district is where you’ll find Helvetica.

When it comes to whiskey, this small bar knows what it’s doing with variations of the amber liquid sourced from all over the world and offered in both 15 and 30ml pours.

Or for those who find one they truly love, these guys also offer bottlekeep service so you can buy your fave and slowly sip away across multiple visits.

The Bird

Live music and DJs, an eclectic crowd and convenient location – these are just some of the reasons we love The Bird in Northbridge.

They’ve created a name for themselves as being just plain cool – from back in the day with their hiphop karaoke (that had a cult following), to the stellar artists and performers that have graced their stage.

Grab an Apple Crumble cocktail and settle in facing the stage or outside in the courtyard.

Tiki as Fk

Fun name, fun place.

Northbridge’s Tiki as FK is a 60s themed bar that comes jampacked with a whole lotta good times.

Whether you spend your days working that corporate life, building your own empire or getting hands on, here you’ll be able to shake it off and shake it up.

Grab a cocktail, grab a skewer and enjoy the lounge life.

Nowhereman Brewing Co

Set out of sight in West Leederville, Nowhereman Brewing Co is just a hop, skip and jump from the CBD and is a relaxing breath of fresh air.

Since opening in 2017, the brewpub is an homage to local businesses – showcasing not only their own product but other West Aussie spirits and wines.

Alfred’s Pizzeria

Pizza. Liquor. Cheese. Safe to say, Alfred’s Pizzeria know their game and they know it well.

Through the red phonebooth along Barrack Street in Perth City, and down the stairs is a snug oasis that oozes pure vibes. Great tunes, mouthwatering scents and just excellent cocktails being turned out one after the other.

Go for a classic or roll the dice and ask the skilled bartenders here to surprise you. Either way, this joint is one to check out for after work drink’s if you haven’t already.

Bobeche

Great spirits and classic libations.

That’s what you’ll find at Brookfield’s Bobeche, situated underneath celebrated restaurant The Heritage. For those who visit in a group, try one of their teapot punches (that come in a teapot too for anyone chasing a fun ‘gram shot).

After work you’ll find the bar pumping, and the merriment overflowing.

Petition Beer

The State Building’s Petition Beer Corner has become a longstanding location for those who love a good hopped up bevvy.

Proudly independent, the team on hand here have an immense passion for all things beer – and there’s a great rotating line-up being poured from their 20 taps.

Here you’ll find both local and international offerings, and a warm setting that boasts casual, relaxed vibes. Just the sort of place you’ll want to roll your sleeves up at and settle in for the short or long haul.
