West Coast Eagles take on Adelaide Crows on Saturday at Domain Stadium, bounce down at 5.40pm.

It’s almost too hard to even think about the game ahead after the devastating news of the death of Adelaide’s coach Phil Walsh last week. It puts a lot of things in perspective, not only for AFL but the entire world of sport.  At the end of the day, sport is just a game and when a tragedy like Phil’s death occurs it is a real eye opener to what is and should be important in our lives.

Phil was assistant coach at West Coast for five years so his death obviously has had a huge impact on not only the Adelaide club and players, but also everyone involved at West Coast.

The clubs and players have come together and will soldier on in respect for Phil and what he has brought to the game. I expect we will see some form of tribute pre and post game to honour him.

It should be an interesting match… I am predicting that all the supporters will put allegiances aside on Saturday and just celebrate the footy. I can’t even imagine the courage it takes for the Adelaide players to come out and play under these circumstances. This will be the first game for the Crows since Phil’s passing.

I honestly would love to see the Crows come away with the 4 points. However, with West Coast in the impressive form that they are in they will be hard to beat, especially at Domain Stadium. Key forwards Josh Kennedy and Jack Darling will be dominant inside 50 for the Eagles, along with Mark LeCras, Dom Sheed and Andrew Gaff through the midfield.

I have a feeling that Adelaide will fire up and I suspect that Tex Walker will stand up tall and lead the boys and they will give their best efforts. I think the game will be closer than people are assuming but that Eagles will get the win. I’m tipping West Coast by 19 points.
