With a second left on the clock, exciting import Casey Prather sinks the free throw to see Wildcats win by a point!

Perth Wildcats were once again without their captain Damian Martin, yet that didn’t stop the boys from fighting hard in the jungle against the Cairns Taipans to secure the 91-90 win.

It may have started out a little rocky for the Wildcats with a couple of inaccurate passes and a little sloppiness here and there, however they played their hearts out right down to the wire. Scores were level with 3 seconds remaining in the final quarter as Casey Prather attempted an unsuccessful lay-up, luckily resulting in a foul from Taipan Torrey Craig, sending Prather to the free throw line.

As Prather sunk the free throw to win the Wildcats the game, deafening cheers of joy from a fired up Red Army filled Perth Arena.

Prather nailed a total of 26 points, a personal best for the young import, showing his undeniable talent and constant growth. Nathan Jawai was influential as always, tallying up a handy 20 points. He appeared to injure his knee in an awkward fall at one stage, although it seemed ok as he played out the rest of the game.

Mark Worthington, Cameron Gliddon and Markel Starks were standouts for the Taipans but they couldn’t rally enough momentum to get over the line with this one.

Wildcats sit tight in second spot on the NBL ladder after round 7.

They will remain in Perth to take on the New Zealand Breakers on Friday night at Perth Arena. Show your support @PerthWildcats #RedArmy
