The National Rugby League (NRL) returns to Perth in 2023 as Optus Stadium is set to host this year’s doubleheader.

Queensland’s newest up-and-coming team, The Dolphins, will take on the Newcastle Knights before the South Sydney Rabbitohs face the Cronulla Sharks. Both games will be played back-to-back on August 5, 2023, making this a must-see event for Perth NRL fans.

This game is predicted to be this year’s biggest sporting event at Optus Stadium. Deputy Premier and Tourism Minister Roger Cook said “last year’s 2022 State of Origin saw nearly 7,000 out-of-state visitors travel to WA for the match”.

This could be a pivotal game for all four teams with three of the four teams currently sitting in the top eight positions on the NRL ladder. By the time this game is played, it could affect whether the teams are finals bound.

“We’re excited to welcome rugby league back to our State once again. It’s going to [be a] huge day at the stadium,” said Cook.

Fans are urged to get in quickly to secure their seats to this make-or-break double-header.
