Massive congratulations are in order for the Southern Stars after producing an epic effort to claim the Ashes over England.

The women succeeded where our Aussie men failed, winning the Ashes on English soil for the first time since 2001 in an exciting 20-run defeat. They performed an incredible fight-back after England kept the Stars to 7-107 from their 20 overs.

Meg Lanning and her crew pulled together and displayed some remarkable bowling to dismiss England for 87, in front of a sell-out crowd of over 5000 fans.

England were 5-28 at the end of their powerplay and recovered to 5-53 before Aussie Megan Schutt bowled out a dangerous Katherine Brunt for 20.

Rene Farrell was named Player of the Match with her dominating 3-17. Ellyse Perry took her 2 wickets from 2 balls finishing on 2-13 and Megan Schutt also took 2 wickets finishing on 2-18.

This is the first time the Stars have beaten England since the multi-format was introduced in 2013.
