Ahead of Nat Fyfe’s 100th AFL game this weekend, I thought it would be a great time to highlight just how good the Dockers super star really is and why we love him so much.

Nat grew up in WA at Lake Grace and went to school at Aquinas College. He played colts in the WAFL for Claremont Football Club and was drafted to Fremantle Dockers in 2009.

Since his debut for the Dockers in 2010 Nat has tallied up an impressive list of achievements.

These include:

  • AFL Rising Star nomination in 2010
  • Named in the All Australian team in 2014
  • AFLPA Most Valued Player in 2014
  • Winner of the Doig Medal (Dockers fairest and best award) in 2013 and 2014.

Wow.

This year alone Nat is averaging 30.3 disposals, 17.9 contested possessions, 7.6 clearances and 5.9 inside 50’s per game. His presence on the field is absolutely outstanding!

Nat Fyfe 4

Not only is Nat a gun on the footy field, he is extremely humble and a great guy off the field. His number one focus is always the team’s success above his own and he often pays tribute to his fellow team mates for helping him to develop into the player that he is today. Nat is favourite to win this year’s Brownlow Medal however he feels the commotion surrounding this is more of a distraction than anything else and wants to celebrate what the team is achieving as a group, as the Dockers remain undefeated heading into round 8.

At just 23 years of age Nat has been compared to incredible talents such as Chris Judd and Joel Selwood in terms of what he has achieved in his first 100 games. I think he has recently struck some additional fear into the opposition teams by stating that he is still developing physically as a player and he is always looking for ways to improve his performance.

The best is yet to come for our Fyfey! What an incredible thought.

I have no doubt that Nat’s 100th game is going to be a great one so even if you are not a Dockers supporter it will be a game that you will not want to miss.

Fun fact: Nat’s mission outside of football is to become a qualified helicopter pilot and buy his own helicopter! Literally achieving great heights on and off the field. That’s what we love to see!
