Not just a local derby with #AFLEaglesFreo Twitter activity reaching worldwide
Overall the first Western Derby of 2015 generated over 21 million Twitter impressions, reaching a potential 1.4 million twitter accounts.
There was a lot of buzz before the game with one of the peaks of activity occurring right before bounce down. However within 5 minutes one side of Twitter started to go very quite. Freo based hashtags #gofreo and #ForeverFreo accounted for 75% of Derby hashtag activity with #GoEagles making up only 25%. The official Freo Twitter account also generated 4 x the tweets compared to the official WCE Twitter account.
Freo won the Twitter Derby by more than the game!
Hopefully at the next derby the game will be a little closer so we can see if we can smash the Twitter results from this round.
