And just like that, winter is here. Some days, you’d hardly know it since we’re so often spoilt with sunshine. But for others, all you need is a cosy destination with a big old fireplace. To help you get out and about while staying warm, we’ve compiled a list of our favourite Perth bars and restaurants with fireplaces. We’ll see you over at the next table, tucking into some carb-alicious comfort food.
The Cabin Small Bar

Nothing says cosy winter night tipples like a hunting lodge setting. The Cabin is complete with comfy brown leather couches, dimmed lighting, and deer heads on an exposed brick wall. We recommend arriving early to score your roost by the fire.
The Rose & Crown
Nestled at the gateway of the Swan Valley region, The Rose & Crown is the state’s oldest and still one of the best pubs around Perth. It’s amongst only a few original country classic Georgian pubs in Australia, and it’s fit with gas fireplaces inside. But for the real thing, head out to the beer garden fire pit and enjoy a feed in front of the flames.
The Guildford Hotel

The restored white and grey majesty that is The Guildford Hotel oozes old-world charm and nods to the history of days gone by. Think two stories of original exposed brick, repurposed timber, brass finishes, and recovered décor, it’s no surprise the Guildford icon keeps up with the cosy vibes of winter. Not only do they sling out a bloody good chicken parmigiana and some of the juiciest smoked meats around town, but they also have a gorgeous little fireplace that’s best enjoyed on the vintage armchairs.
The Henley Brook
Nestled on a three-acre paddock, The Henley Brook — fondly known as The Hen — is home to a pretty legendary beer garden and an indoor double-sided fireplace. It’s the perfect place to snuggle up on a rainy day while devouring a dish or two from the contemporary Australian pub grub menu. You’ll also want to grab one of their tasty craft beers or maybe a “clucktail” if you’re that way inclined!
Stables Bar

With a seasonal menu of dishes to warm your tummy and an equally delicious fire to fight off the chill, The Stables has no downsides when it comes to a wintery night spent sipping on cocktails. The unique, fresh-faced venue is housed inside one of Perth’s original horse stables from 1894. Upon entering its iron gates and wandering down the cobblestone path, you’ll be transported away from the hustle and bustle. Does it get any better?
The Brisbane Hotel
In the heart of Beaufort Street, the always-popular Brisbane Hotel gives comfort food a whole new meaning. They make it work in all seasons with a palm-packed beer garden for summer hangs and a toasty fire to lock in the warmth over winter.
SKØL

SKØL is a term used to express friendly feelings towards companions before drinking, it’s also the name of a stunning Scandinavian-inspired spot in Scarborough. The neighbourhood bar exudes laid-back vibes with a Northern European menu centred around sustainability, seasonality, and sharing. There’s also a charming little fireplace that sits right near the entrance, in line with the venue’s minimalist aesthetic.
The Balmoral
If there’s one thing Vic Park is good for, it’s a fabulous foodie find — The Balmoral being no exception. There are screens aplenty and a gorgeous beer garden if you want to catch the game or sink a few pints. And if you’re really feeling the cold, the toasty fireplace is the ideal place to warm up with a Spicy Tommys Margarita.
Mrs Brown Bar

Set in the North Fremantle village, Mrs Brown is an intimate bar with a strong emphasis on the drink of the season: wine. There’s no better place to warm your bones than the fireplace in the outdoor courtyard. Trust us, we know.
Percy Flint
Percy Flint is synonymous with the South Fremantle scene. It’s a favourite for both locals and blow-ins alike, serving a fusion of killer cocktails, tantalising eats, craft beers, and mulled wine. In summer, it’s all about soaking up the sun in the beer garden. But in winter, the chesterfields are where you want to be, soaking up the warmth of the fireplace. Oh yeah, and if you were wondering, Percy Flint is the bloke who used to own the place in the 1930s!
The Queens

Built in the 1880s, The Queens Tavern has been slinging drinks and serving thirsty locals for more than a century. Located in Highgate, only a stone’s throw from the CBD, the pub is one of Perth’s oldest and most popular, thanks to timeless style, good food, old-school service, and great beer. As we’re complete suckers for exposed brick interiors and a wood fire, you’ll no doubt find us here gobbling a hearty feed in front of the flames.
The Oxford Hotel
Established in 1906, The Oxford Hotel sits pretty in the heart of Leederville. Rustic charm envelopes the two-story dining destination and pairs perfectly with the delicious dishes and drinks slung around on the regular. In winter, by the fireplace is where you want to be.
Henry Summer

Given the usual drunken haze in which many view this popular resort-themed bar, you may not have noticed they actually have an outdoor fireplace! We can confirm it’s a great location to delete a couple of cocktails. You’re welcome!
Alfred’s Kitchen
Name a better fire pit than the one at Alfred’s… we’ll wait. You’ll generally find this place packed with punters dining around the fireplace. We’d have to say the famous homemade burgers have a lot to answer for. You’ll just have to experience it for yourself!
Julio’s

Julio’s is nestled inside the 1902 heritage-listed building that was once the family home of menswear moguls, the Walsh family. For the past 30 years, it has traded as an Italian restaurant, where, in its heyday, it was visited by Beyoncé, Bono, and Lady Gaga. So, when it comes to winter and stuffing yourself with comforting Italian food, Julio’s is a damn good place to do it. The exposed brick space sports some super cosy restored fireplaces and mighty good eats. Honestly, what more could you want?
Picabar
During renovations, Picabar found a fireplace by the bar, covered by brick The team decided to revive and transform it into a toasty spot to drink and indulge in their sensational hot chips. And we didn’t think the long-time favourite could even get any better!
The Parkerville Tavern

The Parkerville is a family favourite and the perfect place to keep warm by the fireplace in winter. It’s also the ultimate pick for a pub grub catch-up, if we do say so ourselves.
The Windsor
The Windsor is coming in hot on our fireplace hit list, with not one but multiple. It’s one of Perth’s most iconic bars with its own on-site brewery. They’ve also just launched a fabulous Winter Warmer’s menu with a Sunday roast special and Sri Lankan curry every Tuesday.
