26 new cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in WA overnight – including a 7 year old.
Just 6 days ago WA had 64 known confirmed cases of coronavirus – WA now has 231 in less than a week. This is a 260% increase.
Of the new cases, 17 are male and 9 female – they are aged between 7 years old to 81 years old.
This now makes the 3rd case of a child being infected with the coronavirus after the recent news of 4 and 10 years old returning a positive test to coronavirus.
Mr Cook stated the 7 year old is the only child diagnosed overnight and is “comfortable” in self-isolation at home with family.
25 of the cases are within the Perth metro area and 1 case confirmed in regional WA within the Pilbara region.
In a positive light though – of the 231 confirmed cases 23 people have now recovered.
More to come.
