As always west is best – Lucky Bay in Esperance (Kepa Kurl) has taken out the number one spot in 2023’s ‘The World’s 50 Best Beaches’.

Just think about it for a second – the world is full of iconic coastal locations, Seychelles, Hawaii, Italy, Greece, Indonesia, Bahamas and more. Now we can officially add Esperance to the ultimate beach list.

The now world-renowned Lucky Bay is a sprawling 20-kilometre stretch of pristine coastline showcasing snow-white sand and the bluest waters, that not only lure beachgoers but also our friendly kangaroo residents who seem to love the attention as much as they love a long day lazing in the sun.

In further good news, Lucky Bay isn’t the only Western Australian beach making waves around the world in The World’s 50 Best Beaches list. Exmouth’s Turquoise Bay and Esperance’s Little Hellfire Bay have also secured their spot among the world’s most-loved beaches, coming in at #17 and #29 respectively.

The only other Australian beach that made it to this illustrious list is Whitehaven Beach in Queensland.

Marcus Falconer, CEO of Australia’s Golden Outback, is happy to see Esperance’s beaches stealing the limelight. “With its extraordinarily white sand and untouched southern coastline, Lucky Bay is a glittering jewel that we in Western Australia are thrilled to share with the world,” he proclaimed.

The results were collated from the votes of more than 2000 travel professionals.
