Holy Moly Guacamole : Perth millennials have broken the internet with a photo of $0.10c avocados going viral.

For too long avo lovers have been forced to pay extravagant prices for avocados, hurting the wallets of Perth millennials for years.

But fear not – shared yesterday on social media were boxes of avocados for $0.10c at Coles Wanneroo.

The post, understandably, went viral.

Now you can have your new home and smashed avo aswell.

Alas, it appears it was a one day only sale.

Coles hass avocados usually retail for $2.50 a pop. But for one day only, Gen-Y hearts were filled with joy and disbelief.

Will Coles Wanneroo ever bring prices back this low ever again? Will other supermarkets follow the lead?

Perhaps a national avocado plan of action is in order. A new deal, if you will. A new housing affordability strategy for the nation.

In fact, we demand change for the future. A future where 10 cent avocados are the norm in our supermarkets and hipster cafes.

An Australia, where children grow up, not knowing the pain of choosing between ordering a $22 smashed av – with crumbled feta on five-grain toasted bread, with sea salt sprinkled atop – and saving for a first home. A future where Baby-boomers aren’t complaining about the kids theres days, wondering, “how can young people afford to eat like this? Shouldn’t they be economising by eating at home? How often are they eating out?”

At these prices, overcoming that may be possible. Finally, a chance at the Australian dream, may really be within reach for a new generation.

Take that Bernard Salt.

Quite a discount: $2.50 to .10

Perth has recently seen a beer war – perhaps there is an avo war on the cards soon?

If you are going to be doing DIY smashed avo you might want to pair it with some poached eggs.
