Western Australia now has 22 active COVID-19 cases.

Western Australia has seen a spike in COVID-19 cases over the long weekend due to further Patricia Oldendorff crew members testing positive.

It has been confirmed that eight more crew members from the bulk carrier anchored off Port Hedland have tested positive to COVID-19, which takes the total number of cases from the ship up to 17.

The crew members who have tested positive are all in quarantine at the Hedland Hotel.

Before the totals from the ship were reported today, Western Australia total cases stood at 676 with 14 active cases being monitored.

This now means Western Australia has recorded 684 total cases with 22 active cases in the state.

To date, 653 confirmed cases have recovered from the virus in WA.

Over the long weekend a total of 1,538 individuals have been swabbed.

There have been over 410,000 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those tested, just over 70,000 were from regional WA.
