Perth Spring Adventures – Ideas to make the most of the spring weather
There’s only a few weeks left of spring! With hotter weather on the way, it’s the perfect time to get out and about now in Perth, before doing so becomes a little harder with the heat.
So, let’s talk about how we can make most of the warm and sunny, perfect conditions for outdoor adventures around Perth over the next few weeks.

Hikes and morning Picnics
As Perth’s famous weather begins to warm up, there’s only a few weeks left to really enjoy the perfect warm conditions. Now is the perfect time to ‘carpe diem’ with an early morning hike, as they say.
Forget your Sunday sleep-ins and head to some of Perth’s favourite look-out points to watch the spectacular sunrise, over our great continent. Don’t forget to pack your picnic blanket and pick-up great gourmet spread from town.
Reward yourself when you reach the top. Take the time to relax and enjoy these special places.
These spots are, of course, great in the evening to watch the sunset as well. Perfect conditions either way for a romantic kiss and a spectacular Instagram shot.
Sullivan’s Rock
This beautiful granite outcrop is located within the Monadnocks Conservation Park and offers sweeping views of endless bushland. Follow the Albany Highway approximately 9.5kms past Jarrahdale Road. You’ll find the car park on the right hand side of the road.
Mount Dale
Located about 25km east of Armadale, one of the highest points in the Darling Scarp, once the site of a fire lookout tower due to its near 360 degree views of the surrounding area.
Access off the end of Dale Road.

Get twitchy, it’s bird watching season. The Perth Hills Armadale is home to an abundance of bird life, and there’s no better season to spot them than during spring.
Dawn and dusk are the best times to go twitching, with birds being most active at these times.

Geocaching adventures
Not all screen time is bad! Inspire young minds with Geocaching, a real-word treasure hunt, where the user follows GPS coordinates to different locations, to crack a code to unlock the ‘cache’ at the end of the trail.
There are several great geocaching trails to be found within the Armadale region, taking you through bushland trails, past impressive art murals and monuments of local history.
ReDiscover Armadale Trail
Wander through the town centre past six large-scale urban artworks, answering questions as you go along to determine the combo to unlock the cache.
The cache is located inside the Artists Retail Collective (open 9am-4pm Tues-Sat) where you can enjoy local artwork, gifts and a tasty treat.
Settlers Common Trail
A wonderful bush-walk for little legs (and bigger) alike. Look up into the beautiful Jarrah Forest. See what wildlife you can spot along the trail. A total of 318 plant species found on the trail, along with two ‘Declared Rare and Priority Flora Species.’
Next Stop Armadale Trail
Discover the historic buildings and playgrounds surrounding Jull Street. This trail talks you through Memorial Park, complete with a brand new playground featuring a replica train station.

Follow in the footsteps of Moondyne Joe.
Ever wondered what it would be like to be a bush-ranger?
The hills and valleys around Roleystone were a popular jaunt of infamous bush ranger Moondyne Joe, during times when he was on the run from authorities, following his famous escapes.
He’s even rumoured to have lived in a cave in the region for some time.
Track his footsteps by hiking the Canning River Interpretive Trail in Roleystone. Follow the stream to the Roley Pool Reserve and keep an eye out for the rocky outcrops that Moondyne may have called his home! Trail maps available from the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre, 40 Jull Street.

Get your fresh produce fix and visit the wineries in the Perth Hills Armadale region and surrounds.
This part of Perth is home to incredible wineries, orchards, cider houses, micro-breweries, restaurants, cafes and gourmet foods.
