53-year-old man skips hotel quarantine after checking out of the hospital.

Details of the Perth coronavirus breach have emerged as acting WA Police Deputy Commissioner Paul Steel addresses the media on the Northbridge quarantine breach.

A 53-year-old man travelling from Queensland allegedly skipped COVID-19 hotel quarantine after he complained of non-COVID-19 related symptoms upon arrival and was permitted entry to WA and taken to hospital by ambulance.

After receiving treatment he was told to wait for transport to hotel quarantine, which he failed to do so.

The individual was then found by police at Hotel Northbridge and he had also checked into a nearby backpackers hotel.

The individual is now in hotel centre quarantine and will be summons and charge in relation to his COVID-19 breach.

Health advice suggest he is a very low risk of COVID-19 infection as the initial test was negative for COVID-19.

He arrived in Perth on Friday without having applied to re-enter.
